Some interesting stats I found:

🔍 60% of readers are aged 20-39

🔑 1/3 of you identify as entrepreneurs, 2nd is marketing, 3rd is HR

💻 Over 55% of you have a life goal to own your business eventually

🎙 40% of you want a podcast next and 30% of you wanna take an online course… *GOOD NEWS*: I have two here!

Welcome to week 1 of the Personal Branding Interview Series!

Over the next while, I’m going to take a break from sharing my ideas and interview top leaders to hear what they have to say. Each of the guests have built strong personal brands and I’m going to ask them a set of questions to break down their top advice to readers.

To kick things off, this week’s guest is a knockout success. She's earned LinkedIn's top publishing award -- the LinkedIn Top Voices -- THREE times, and she's amassed over 400,000 followers… plus she's a great human being. Her name? Natalie Riso! 👋🏼

I’m stoked to host her as she’s been a good friend of mine over the last couple years. In addition to being a LinkedIn superstar, she's currently the Global Marketing and Partnerships Manager at 500 Startups (2020's #2 most active early-stage VC). She is also an accomplished writer and speaker. On the side, she loves the outdoors and is always on the hunt for new matcha latte locations. 🍵

Fun Fact: I first met Natalie on LinkedIn when we were both students. We connected over a couple messages and before we knew it, we were co-planning a LA Clippers LinkedIn Event together where we actually first met in person on the roof of the Staples Centre. Since then, we’ve become great friends. But she was one of the first OG’s that got me hooked on LinkedIn and the power of storytelling!

Let’s dig into our set of questions I asked her!

Joel Hansen: What’s your #1 tip for building a community around your brand?

Natalie Riso: Always keep it a 2-way conversation. No one wants to be preached at. You have to test and see what resonates with your target community.
